Active in-house development projects


• Development of a novel intra-oral transmucosal thin-film for treatment of alcohol dependence (in collaboration with Prof. Bozena Michniak-Kohn, New Jersey Center of Biomaterials, Rutgers University). Bionex was awarded a SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) Phase I Grant from NIH's National Instittue on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) in September 2009. Phase I objectives were successfully met, and in September 2012, NIAAA awarded Bionex with a SBIR Phase II grant to extend the project to full product development/commercialization stage.

• Development of novel intra-oral lozenge formulations for local antifungal activity/pain management in oral cavity.

• Development of a novel oral mucosal delivery system for treatment of oral candidasis (in collaboration with UMDNJ). Bionex/UMDNJ has submitted an NIH/SBIR application for a feasibility seed fund.

• Development of a novel oral transmucosal disc for smoking cessation (in collaboration with Prof. Bozena Michniak-Kohn, New Jersey Center of Biomaterials, Rutgers University). Bionex was awarded a SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) Phase I Grant from NIH's National Instittue on Drug Abuse (NIDA) in August 2008. Feasibility study/formulation development has been completed and the project has moved to commercialization stage.

• Development of a topical film for wrinkle reduction and skin whitening. Bionex has designed, formulated, and supplied prototype products to several market leaders in cosmetic industry for evaluations.
